Phoenix of an Angel's Crest

It was in an angel’s crest
That I saw the new born,
Perched on top, in a nest.
With its feathers, the colour of ash.
It was already dreaming big.
Hoping not to crash,
Tried to reach out to the flames of this world, it did.

It knew that it was no ordinary bird but a phoenix.
It knew what lay ahead of itself in the future.
It knew that the twigs that she comforted herself in
Were actually its ashes that she will again nurture.

Hope. Its well is never empty for the bird.
Faith. With it, to burst into flames she can afford.
Gratitude. In each new life, the hues of its body thank the past ones.
Blazing out the atrocities,
Blessing with its tears, the deserving ones.
Pride. Not arrogance, is what makes it spread life.
Makes it live not just once,
But times five.
Security. The sense of it is what makes it soar high.
To break its shackles,
To go higher than high.

That magnificent bird: A treat to the eyes.
Its tail sprinkles sparkling tinges,
It’s no mere ash.
With colours now, it flies.

The splendour of its colour,
Its frame and its valour,
Who could bring us such happiness?
Not once, but again,
Again and again.
Remember, I do, it was only from pain.
The answers, I can think not many.
It is the one, not just any.
He is the saviour, our messiah.
He brings us from darkness to light,
From up above, even higher.

It brings my memories flooding back,
It flashes by, that godly bird.
It skims past before my glowing eyes.
With each of its flights, it makes itself heard.

I hear a mystic voice.
Its magnanimity convinces me that it is pleasant.
“The tale is true”, says its poise.
But those hues, they say it loud, in a manner-decent.

“All of it was started in a tender nest.
Which was once held in an angel’s crest.”
Saying thus, it waves its good-byes.
Bursts into fragments,
Searches its ashes for unfound joys.

I Want It. What?

25 miles seem so long.
It is so far away.
I’ve always wanted to touch the sands of that place.

Route? What route?
Direction? Don’t know which.

Didn’t know that the road is of rumble stones.
I, only one of them,
Rumbling away with the others like me
So that I am not stepped upon,
So that I make it to those sands.
Can I make it?

There are trees of green and silver leaves on both sides of the isle.
So many stones along with me,
Yet they see the silver leaves.
Each one of them thinks he is the silver leaf.

They are now silver stones.
But silver they are, so they think.
Fail to look around and see their actual colour.
They fail to see,
There are more of them.
So alike, so powerful when together.

But they are leaves.
Or so their non-existent minds think.

What was on those sands,
I called it food.
The world called it bait.
No, it was food certainly.
I have it every day!

There is a doubt.
I have it every day,
Then why ask for more?
What is it that I want?
I think it is food.
But don’t I have it every day?

More doubts.
Is it the mist or the fog that has caused this?
What’s far away is no more to be seen.

Doubts.
They engulf me like a snake does a rat.
Or a boa perhaps?

The snake creeps on.
Maybe it can bypass the mist… or the fog?
And reach what is 25 miles away.
What is it?
What is it?
Why can’t I see it?

The Ice Breaker

She sits in a corner, all alone.
her face pale, her heart torn.
Her eyes are swollen, her lips have dried.
For a reason not known to me,
All night she cried.
It pricked me inside but I could not console her,
Because at school, I was a baboon and she was Miss.Popular!
I looked on as a tear rolled down her swollen cheek.
I felt bad, to walk up to her, I was too weak.
I gathered enough courage,to walk up to her, I dared.
I looked her in the eye and said that i cared.
She was deep in her thoughts, did not take notice of me.
I was very nervous, couldn't help but be!
I turned to go. I was no match to her fame.
She took me by surprise when she called out my name.
I saw a smile on her face as well as mine.
Right then I knew that she was going to be fine.
I didn't know why she was crying, but I made her feel better, I was sure.
She was my hope of self confidence and I was her cure.
I'm happy now as we share some laugh and a little chatter.
I am no more a baboon but she is still Miss.Popular!

Resolutions unleashed

Here it comes, the newest year.
Bringing hopes of joy and cheer.
resolutions are being made.
Many are broken, for this they blame their fate.
Others are honest, their promises they keep,
To break their vows, their hearts never leap.
Some wish to start, some say never again.
But they choose their vows carefully, aint causing no one pain.
Not to get angry some choose, the others, not to be too sweet.
Because "Never say yes when you have to say no", this someone did tweet.
Some talk a lot but their own words they fail to preach.
some may be silent but their own goal, they are determined to reach.
"So what is your resolution?", the eager beavers ask,
I need not say a word because i am determined to go on with my task.

Movie Review: Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu

MOVIE REVIEW
MOVIE: EK MEIN AUR EK TU
DIRECTOR: Shakun Batra
GENRE: romance
CAST: Kareena Kapoor, Imran Khan, Ratna Pathak Shah, Boman Irani
Ek mein aur ek tu, which was released on 14th of February, may not be the perfect movie to watch with one’s valentine but it would surely serve as a nice entertainer for the less cheesy couple who want to lighten up a little.
Rahul, (Imran khan) is an up-tight architect of the reputed Kapoor family, who has been trained to satisfy his father’s dreams of his son getting a job in the top 10 firms and is pestered by his class conscious mother who wants him to get betrothed to some rich socialite’s daughter. However, he presently resides in Las Vegas, unemployed. Riana Briganza (kareena kapoor) is a chilled out chick who has no rules and no punishments set by her family. She too, like Rahul is trying her luck at job interviews but is a complete opposite of Rahul in character.  The story begins to take shape when they meet on Christmas Eve to solve a prior misunderstanding. It was when they decide to spend the Christmas together as both of them don’t have company that they get drunk and get married by mistake. The story goes on to portray how their friendship becomes stronger even though they decide to annul the marriage. It is a story of friendship which later has under-tones of love, though one sided.
The promos and the trailer are rather misleading as they do not give the actual idea of the movie but show only the glamour and pomp which is included. If one accepts that that’s what trailers are meant for, the trailer of this movie has successfully caught millions of eyeballs, thereby, leading them to spend valuable bucks on the movie. There is also a misconception that Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu is a remake of the Hollywood flick, What Happens in Vegas. Except for the fact that they get married because of the over dosage of alcohol, it isn’t in anyway related to it.
The story is knit in an interesting way though it is not an attention catcher. In fact, the first half can be really boring as there is nothing much happening except that they get to know each other better. For the better or worse, there are certain abrupt moments in the film which did not sync very well in the movie. The first one is when he, from the middle of nowhere, gets the urge to prove it to Riana that he isn’t uptight and all of a sudden takes up an entire tray of tequila shots to become ‘loose’ and to ‘have fun’. The sudden change in character is not very pleasing. Another such moment is when he realises that he is in love and says “I love her” over a kuch kuch hota hai song. The last abrupt moment is shallow and funny as it is when he tries to kiss her saying “thanks Ree, for changing my life”. Here, the poor quality of the script and dialogues are exposed.
Speaking about the roles played by the actors in the movie, there are few qualms. Only Kareena could have justified the role of Riana Braganza and she did not over do one bit and looked her usual best. Imran Khan was not so great but he carried himself very well as the serious boy-next-door, a character that is relatively new to him. Ratna Pathak Shah did a good job as the class obsessed mother. Her character added a comical angle to the movie. A little disappointing was the fact that Boman Irani’s potential was not used to the fullest. It might be because he did not have a very big role to play in the first place.
The dialogues in the movie are not pleasing at all. The impact of the movie would have been greater if the script was improved upon. The screen play was made attractive with the Vegas atmosphere and this was the strong aspect of the entire movie. The music is equally attractive as each of the song has a nice catch to it. The audience seem to be specially rapt with the song, “aunty ji” for the same reason. The director has used a few aspects powerfully to generate talks about the movie among public such as making Imran Khan’s wife, Avantika, appear for a short while in the song.
The movie has a surprising climax which is generally not accepted by the Indian audience. However, the director has been careful about this aspect. The movie is not a total spoiler; it ends on a rather jolly note.
The movie makes for a good one time watch even though the first half might prove to bore you to a certain extent. All in all, it is a neat movie even though one does not miss anything great if this movie is skipped.
